According to Lehi Police Department Sergeant Bill Loveridge, Samantha Lee Bergman of Eagle Mountain and Lehi resident Zachary Jared Brown were arrested on several charges. A search warrant was served and officers entered Brown’s Lehi home early Sunday morning, where the pair were hiding out.
Lehi police officers responded to a call from a passerby who came upon a one vehicle crash at approximately 400 West Main Street in Lehi at approximately 1:30 A.M. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a vehicle with no license plates “high-centered on the median, with the doors locked,” said Loveridge. Officers searched the vehicle and soon discovered the vehicle had been stolen.
Officers found two sets of footprints in the freshly fallen snow leading away from the vehicle to a nearby residence located close to 300 W. and 100 N. “They were just about the only footprints in the snow in Lehi at that time of day,” said Loveridge. After obtaining a search warrant to enter the residence, officers discovered Bergman hiding a bathtub and Brown hiding in a bed. Both Brown and Bergman were arrested on suspicion of obstruction of justice and receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle. Brown was also arrested for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. Bergman was also arrested on drug-related charges and a warrant for third-degree possession or transfer of a bank card.
Sergeant Loveridge credits the successful arrest to good collaboration between witnesses and the Lehi Police Department.
