Francom was born and raised in Lehi. She graduated from Lehi High School and BYU with a degree in Communications/Media Sales Management and English. Her career in broadcasting, publishing and media spans 30 years. She started her broadcasting career in sales at KUTV, the local CBS affiliate in Utah. Over the years, she worked in television sales and management in Utah at KTVX (ABC TV affiliate), KSTU Fox 13, KSFI (radio) and iHeartMedia (radio). Her last management position in broadcasting was Director of Marketing and Sales Promotion at KTVX in Salt Lake City.

During her years in the Bay Area, she worked for The New York Times in digital sales and for five years was a publisher at Streetwise Reports, overseeing the publication of The Gold Report and The Critical Metals Report, two web-based financial magazines focused on sharing investment advice in the resource sector.

Francom is also the principal of sister company, Copperlight Communications. Copperlight is a marketing consulting firm and advertising agency. Barnes is a lifelong Lehi resident. She graduated from Lehi High School, attended Utah State University, and graduated from BYU. She has been involved in education as a teacher, counselor, adjunct professor at UVU, and school board member for over 40 years. Barnes has served as an Alpine School Board member, Trustee for Intermountain Healthcare, and a Lehi planning commission member. She also owned and operated Scrooge and Marley’s, a local gift and furniture store, for almost 20 years.

She is the wife of Marlin Barnes, the mother of five children: Bob, Becky, Ginn, Rusty, and Randy, grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 4.
