Lehi High School won the coveted title of the Miss Lehi Shoe Drive against Skyridge High School, a contest that ran February 13-27. The contest – directed by Miss Lehi Jacki Thacker – was a competitive way for the schools to serve by collecting shoes for children in Africa.
The Miss Utah organization requires each Miss Utah contestant to raise shoes for the children in Burkina Faso. Miss Lehi, who will compete at Miss Utah in June, orchestrated the fun and friendly competition between the two high schools in Lehi to help her collect shoes. She placed bins at each school and encouraged kids to donate. At the end of the two-week shoe drive it was determined that Lehi High School donated the most shoes.
Jacki, an LHS alumni of 2015, presented the principal with the winning plaque and said of the competition, “Through this friendly competition, the two wonderful high schools of Lehi collected 335 pairs of shoes that are going to help kids in Africa, I want to thank both high schools for their help.”
