Inside this issue, readers will find the first seasonal edition of the Lehi Free Press All-City athletic awards, designed to honor the best of our local high school athletes.
This program resulted from our efforts to recognize their accomplishments in a meaningful way since they are so often overlooked in the statewide honors, which also have now been reduced in number of sources from what was available in previous years.
Each honoree will receive a certificate and a copy of the newspaper in which their award was announced. These will be delivered by administrators at each school.
The selections were made based on nominations from coaches, available statistical information and the results earned by each athlete in state-level competition. Final decisions were made by the newspaper staff.
In this issue, we honor competitors from the cross country, girls tennis and boys golf teams. In following issues, we’ll present our All-City girls soccer, volleyball and football teams.
We will continue the awards program following each contested season of the school year.
