Harmons Grocery is putting the finishing touches on the new Traverse Ridge location this week (1750 Traverse Parkway, Lehi). The grand opening is slated for August 10-20. Harmons is a regional grocery chain focused on local foods, “made from scratch” specialty foods, and organic and gluten-free items. Lehi residents are invited to come during the grand opening for food sampling, special bargain pricing, food demonstrations, and to enjoy the brand new 67,000 square foot store.
According to store director Greg Hooke, “Harmons is very big on featuring local vendors, local products, and local growers.” Hooke, a Massachusetts native, has been in the grocery business since the age of 15. He has lived in Utah since the age of 18, and considers himself a local. He and his family live in Eagle Mountain.
Harmons caters to foodies who enjoy gourmet products, including locally grown and organic items. The store will feature a huge salad bar with fresh soups and artisan breads made daily. On the second floor mezzanine there is a cooking school complete with a gourmet kitchen where several people can learn chef-inspired cooking. There is also a large bulk foods section, natural medicines, a post office, a branch of America First Credit Union, and a pharmacy. There is a dietician on staff as well. Given the location at Traverse Ridge with all the office buildings nearby, Hooke expects a huge lunch business at their fresh salad and soup bar.
