On Saturday, December 15, 125 elementary school students from 13 local elementary schools were treated to a morning of shopping at the Saratoga Springs Wal-Mart courtesy of the Skyridge High School sports marketing students and participants in the Mascot Bowl. All money from the hugely popular Mascot Bowl held in September at Skyridge High School provided each elementary student with a $100 gift card.

The young students were treated to breakfast at Skyridge before boarding buses and heading, with police and fire department escorts, to Wal-Mart.

Tabbe Schuster, high school student escort, was excited to see the gifts picked out by her elementary buddy. “I just love to see them smile,” Schuster said. Sophie Jan, another high school student, said, “Seeing what they choose shows so much about their personality.”

This is the thirteenth year for the Christmas shopping event. Over 1500 elementary students have had a shopping experience they will never forget.
